; 6-5524 Hometown: Nutley, NJ Story behind your name: Born on December 25th.Identity on campus: An amazing job opportunity directing a center that supports research on women and gender and the chance to work with wonderful faculty members and graduate students. Childhood aspiration: To be a writer and leave NJ (the order often varied). What would you be doing or where would we find you if you weren't teaching or working? Cooking, reading, hanging with my pack.
Research interests: I've always been interested in gender as a relational category of analysis— in how experiences of gender are structured by class, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and ability. My research has focused on media and popular culture— increasingly on digital culture. Quote you live by: Gayatri Spivak wrote that one of the goals of feminist criticism needs to be constantly unlearning the privileges we enjoy by virtue of our particular material positions and standpoints, which I've always understood to be a reminder of the need to specify the point from which we see what we see.
Other things: I grew up in an amusement park.
