Hometown: Oakland, CA.

Story behind your name: I was named after my father's older brother.

Family nickname growing up: Neto

Childhood aspiration: I wanted to be a dancer.

What would you be doing or where would we find you if you weren't teaching or working? You would find me with friends/family-- cooking, listening to music, gossiping, laughing...

Research interests: I work within the field of comparative ethnic studies, with a special focus on sexuality, gender, and theories of identity.

Quote you live by: "People pay for what they do, and still more for what they have allowed themselves to become. And they pay for it very simply, by the lives they lead." --James Baldwin.
